Deputy Emmet Stagg has welcomed the decision by Kildare Co. Council to commence the Part 8 Public Consultation process in relation to the extension to Donaghcumper Cemetery. My colleague Cllr. Kevin Byrne has been pressing this issue at the Celbridge Area Committee for some time now and given that there are very few plots left in the existing cemetery this announcement is very welcome. It is intended stated Deputy Stagg to extend the Cemetery in two phases, Phase 1 comprising 468 plots and Phase 2 comprising 562 plots. Negotiations to acquire the land, directly behind the existing cemetery are at an advanced stage. In conclusion Deputy Stagg stated that he looked forward to the successful conclusion of the negotiations to acquire the land and to the completion of Phase 1 of the Extension at an early date.
