Deputy Emmet Stagg has continued to pressurise the Tanaiste and Minister for Education and Skills in relation to the award of the contract for the required extension to Scoil Choca Naofa in Kilcock.

The Tanaiste has now advised Deputy Stagg that the preferred bidder has been chosen for the building project following the tender procedure and that her Department were awaiting some outstanding documentation from the preferred bidder. The outstanding documentation would include such things as Bonds, Tax Clearance, Insurance Cover, Health and Safety Clearance etc.

The Tanaiste further advised Deputy Stagg that when this documentation has been received and assuming there are no issues arising, the contract can be awarded and the project will progress to construction.

The long campaign to upgrade the school was now finally nearing an end stated Deputy Stagg. The work to be carried out includes the provision of an 11 Classroom Extension, the provision of a General Purpose Room and refurbishment of the existing accommodation at the school. This work has been sought by the Board of Management since 2002 and its regrettable that a generation of pupils have had to go through National School whilst awaiting Government funding.

In conclusion Deputy Stagg congratulated the Board of Management on their success and indicated that he would continue to monitor progress on the project until work actually commenced.
