emmetstagg Deputy Emmet Stagg has reacted angrily to moves by Dublin Bus to cease servicing the Town of Kilcock on its 66 Route.

Having spoken to Dublin Bus, Deputy Stagg stated that they were in discussions with Bus Eireann with a view to withdrawing their Bus Service to the Town if Bus Eireann diverted additional services into the town on the 115 service to and from Longford.

Deputy Stagg stated that at present on Monday to Friday Kilcock is served by 12 Bus Eireann services daily inward and outward and by 5 Dublin Bus services daily inward and outward. In other words nearly one third of the Public Bus service is provided by Dublin Bus.

Kilcock with in excess of 2,000 houses cannot afford to see a reduction in Transport services stated Deputy Stagg and if Dublin Bus do cease their 66 route then Bus Eireann must step up to the plate and maintain the 17 daily services.

In conclusion Deputy Stagg indicated that he would be contacting the Chairman of C.I.E, Dr. John Lynch to ensure that Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann act in the interests of the people of Kilcock in ensuring a viable Public Bus Transport Service.
