David Flanagan – Clane Area Independent Candidate

I am 44 years of age. I spent my early years growing up in Hacketstown Co Carlow. My family moved to a small village outside Dublin called Tallaght in 1972. I am married to Anne and I have one daughter Sammi who is sitting her Leaving Certificate this year. My family have lived in Kilcock for the past eight years. I have a hardware distribution business which employs three people. I have no land or property or commercial interest in the Clane electoral area apart from my family home in Abbeyfield Kilcock.
My mother was an active member of the Tallaght Hospital Action group. I witnessed first hand the power that local residents have when they organise themselves to deal with issues. Having lived in Tallaght I have witnessed the results of a small town being swamped by development without the proper provision of community amenities and services. I see the potential for the same thing happening in parts of our community. This is one of the main reasons I am involved in community work.
