Maynooth Churches Together hosted their annual Ecumenical Forum for 2009 in the Glenroyal Hotel on January 29th. We were honoured to have Prof. Tom Norris of St. Patrick’s College Maynooth and Prof. Stephen Williams of Union Theological College, Belfast to share a Catholic and a Reformed perspective on “Paradise and Purgatory: What happens when we die”
It was a great night. We needed to set out more row after row of more chairs as the turn out was greater than we could have expected. Both guests spoke with clarity and passion and together dealt with questions from the audience with winsome grace. Afterwards, most people were able to stay around for tea and coffee and a chance for the three Christian communities in Maynooth to enjoy some fellowship together.
The audio files for the evening are now available to download :
- Opening remarks by Rev. Janice Aiton.
- An introduction for Prof. Williams from Rev. Dr. Keith McCrory.
- Fr. Liam Rigney introduces Prof. Tom Norris.
- Prof. Tom Norris shares a Catholic perspective on Paradise and Purgatory.
- Prof. Stephen Williams shares a Reformed perspectice on Paradise and Purgatory.
- Our guests take questions from the audience.
