At the Celbridge Area Committee Meeting yesterday Cllr. John McGinley called for the National Transport Authority’s (NTA) Pilot Cycle Scheme for the Kilcock Road, Maynooth to be rejected.

Broken Lights on Farrell Bridge, Parson Street

Cllr. McGinley was given the following reply as a result of his motion:
"The public lighting maintenance contractor has repaired some of the lights that were repairable. The contractor has also been asked to give Kildare County Council a quotation for raising the lights so that they would be less susceptible to vandalism."
Cllr. McGinley asks for Improvements to Pedestrian Crossing at Newtown Shopping Units, Beaufield

Following representations from Cllr. John McGinley the Area Engineer has agreed to reline the pedestrian crossing and repair the amber lights.
John has asked the Gardai to pay greater attention to the illegal and dangerous parking of cars at this location.

Graffiti at Teenage Play Area

Following representations by the Tidy Towns Committee, Cllr. John McGinley asked the Council to either clear the graffiti from the two blue panels or else remove these panels completely. The Council replied as follows:

Double Yellow Lines to be installed at Convent Lane/Dunboyne Road

Cllr. McGinley is very pleased that the Council acted so quickly to put these yellow lines in place. The lines were installed on 26 May, which means that it is much safer for the children going to the Girls’ School and for other pedestrians and motorists.
Iarnrod Eireann to Extend Their Maynooth Car Park

Myles McHugh from Iarnrod Eireann (IE) attended the Celbridge Area Committee Meeting of the Council on 21 Maynooth to answer questions from the members.

Increased Minimum Floor and storage areas for area’s for houses and apartments.

“That an explanation be given as to why it is considered to be money well spent by paying a contractor €213,395.48 to police Pay Parking in Celbridge in 2009 as well as €34,343.63 for machine maintenance.”
